HOAX HUNTERS PINUP PREVIEW

I have some awesome news for you guys today ! Michael Moreci, co-writer of the awesome Image Comics series HOAX HUNTERS, recently asked me if I would like to do a pinup for the series. Of course I replied with an emphatic YES ! This is one of my favorite series on the stands right now, and I'm beyond thrilled that Mike was willing to put my art in the book. So the pinup will be in HOAX HUNTERS #5, on sale November 14th from Image Comics, and available in comic shops EVERYWHERE ! So make sure you go to your local shop and pick it up, and if you haven't checked out the series at all yet, pick them all up ! As a matter of fact, comiXology has issue #1 of the series available for FREE, and you can check it out RIGHT HERE !!!

As you can tell, I'm very excited about this and I can't wait to see it in print. Here's a small preview of the piece I drew. If you want to see the whole thing, pick up HOAX HUNTERS #5 on November14th !

NEW ART- STICK CITY

Happy Halloween everyone ! I've a bit of a special treat here for you today !

Earlier in the year I had announced that I was doing a 3 page backup story for and indie comic called Stick City. Unfortunately, the project has been hampered with delays. I know some friends of mine contributed to the Indiegogo campaign for the project and still have not received your rewards. I did get in touch with Brennan Neil, the creator of the series, and he did assure me that all Indiegogo rewards will be fulfilled and that the books should be shipping out soon.

So, since the book has been delayed for so long, I've decided to post my full 3 pages here for EVERYONE to enjoy ! Even though this was just earlier this year, you'll notice some differences in my style compared to what I'm trying to do now.

The story of Stick City basically revolves around a government experiment gone wrong that turns people into stick figure types and transforms reality. My story is called STICK CITY: THEN & NOW, and shows what everyday folks looked like before and after the event.

ENJOY !

NEW ART- TERRORBADS PINUP- UPDATED

UPDATE-
So I've just been informed that due to an editorial oversight, my pinup didn't actually make into the book. Chris has assured me that it will be in all copies beyond the first printing that is out now. I'm not sure if that pertains to copies purchased on Amazon or not, but if you happened to purchase a copy there today, contact me at raywegnerart@gmail.com and we will work something out. Regardless of whether my piece is in it or not, I really recommend that you check this comic. Chris and Jeff work very hard to get this strip out on a weekly basis, so make sure you take a look !

Hey folks ! Here's is a pinup I drew for the print version of yet another awesome Two For One Comics strip, TERRORBADS ! Chris Meeuwes and Jeff Manley do a great job on this strip, and I'm very happy to have contributed. And best of all, you can purchase TERRORBADS: YEAR ONE on Amazon RIGHT HERE !

ART & NEWS !

Hey, everyone !

Sorry it's been quite a while since I've updated here, but I swear it's for a good reason ! On June14th, my wife Liz gave birth to our second child together (my third overall), a beautiful baby boy named Benjamin Robert !
After some initial issues with his lungs and a few extra days in the NICU, he's as healthy as a horse and giving us a run for our money !

Ok, let's get to the other fun stuff. First off, here's a few pieces I've completed over the last couple of months-

THE DARK KNIGHT, 11x17 ink on bristol, digital

MUTATIS MUTANDIS, 11x17 ink and watercolor on bristol, digital

BANG YOUR HEAD II: THE SEQUEL, 11x17 ink on bristol, digital

So that's about all I've had a chance to work on since the baby has been here, but I've got a lot of exciting things coming up !

PRODUCT OF SOCIETY

First off, I am working on writing and drawing a 3 page story for PRODUCT OF SOCIETY #6, an anthology put together by my pal Jon Michael Lennon and his company, CHEESELORD COMICS ! I'm very excited about this project and can't wait to share it with you guys. The book should be out some time this fall. Here's a little preview panel :

TERRORBADS & THE BAIT

I'm doing more pinups for some awesome webcomic collected editions. First off is the fantasic TERRORBADS, by Chris Meeuwes and Jeff manley. The guys are running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing of the book. You should go HERE  and order yourself a copy !

I'm also doing a pinup for the awesome webcomic THE BAIT, by Sherief AbouElSeoud and Mark Tesone. This is a full color collection, so I've decided to do a painting for this one !

Both of these webcomics are great, and their creators are all hard working, dedicated and incredibly handsome ! Be sure to check out all of their stuff at twoforonecomics.com/ !

BIG PROJECT

My comics project with writer B Alan Hubbard keeps getting pushed back a bit, as we both have paying jobs and children to feed which require constant attention ! But rest assured, we both plan on making it well worth the wait, so stay tuned !

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this long post, and as always I appreciate the constant support and feedback i get ! If you have any questions or comments, by all means leave them in the comments section below.

Thanks again !

Daily Sketch 019- GRENDEL

Ok, I missed a couple of days there, but we're preparing to have a baby tomorrow so things have been very busy around here ! Todays sketch is Matt Wagner's GRENDEL. I just wanted to do something very quick and was actually going for more of a messy look here, and I like the way it came out. So this will probably be the last post for a while. I may post a random sketch here & there but it will be a bit before I get back into the daily sketch flow again. Hopefully won't be too long. See you soon !

I really liked yesterdays Death sketch, so I decided to roll that theme over to today with SANDMAN, or MORPHEUS, or DREAM, of THE ENDLESS.

Daily Sketch 017- DEATH, of THE ENDLESS

Hey everyone ! Ladies week concludes with Neil Gaiman's DEATH, of THE ENDLESS. Probably the most popular of The Endless characters, other than The Sandman himself. I like how this one turned out !

I'll be continuing the Daily Sketches into the beginning of the week, but then taking a break for a bit as my wife and I will be having a baby on Thursday ! So I will definitely try to get back to it as soon as possible, but after Wednesday the sketches will probably be on hiatus for a bit. Thanks again to everyone who has given support and positive feedback on these so far !

Daily Sketch 016- ZEE HERNANDEZ

So yeah, did something quite a bit different today. Had a little down time at the end of my work day so I decided to do today's sketch ON MY PHONE !

It's ZEE HERNANDEZ, from DMZ. Did this using Sketchbook Mobile for iPhone and a cheap Griffin stylus. This was totally fun, and being able to use multiple layers is totally foreign to me but pretty damn cool. I'll have to do a few more like this for sure.

Daily Sketch 014- JENNIE 2.5

LADIES WEEK continues today with JENNIE 2.5, from Brian Wood's CHANNEL ZERO. Hey, have you guys noticed I draw a lot of Brian Wood characters ? It's only because the books are so amazing ! CHANNEL ZERO was originally published in 1997, but Dark Horse Comics just released a brand new collected edition last week, and it's really cool. Go get it !

Daily Sketch 013- ALANA, from SAGA

I'm back with another late night post tonight. After a LONG day of work and the family all in bed, I had a little time to sit down and knock this one out. Someone mentioned to me a while back that they don't see me draw very many women. I think that's probably just because I've never been very good at it. But I've tried to stick with a LADIES WEEK type of theme for the last few days.

Tonight's subject is none other than the lovely ALANA, one of the focal characters of Vaughan & Staples SAGA. I know I've mentioned it before, but seriously, everyone needs to be reading this book. I'm absolutely in love with it !

Daily Sketch 011- ARIEL, from GREEN WAKE

Hello again ! First off, I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has given positive feedback on the daily sketches. I've really been enjoying doing them, and feel like I'm definitely growing as an artist by trying some new and different things.

Speaking of new things, I certainly did something a little different today. Today's subject is ARIEL, from Kurtis J Wiebe and Riley Rossmo's haunting and heartbreaking Image Comics series, GREEN WAKE. I decided to experiment with some color again. I used a slightly different watercolor technique, creating washes with different colored Bombay India inks. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and I think it definitely conveys the type of mood and tone I was looking for. I really would like to try some proper watercolors eventually, so once i get a nice st of paints we'll see how that goes. Thanks for stopping by !

Daily Sketch 007- MONOCYTE

In honor of today's release of the fourth and final issue of the series, today I chose MONOCYTE. Monocyte is a mini-series from IDW publishing, created by menton3 and Kasra Ghanbari. This series has been a real inspiration to me as an artist. The first time I saw concept images for this book last summer they took my breath away and I knew it was going to be something special and followed it ever since. The fact that 2 Chicago guys can get together and publish their dream project and make it just an absolutely amazing work of art is very inspiring, and I can't wait to see what Kasra & Menton have planned for the future. Go to your local comic shop and grab #4 (and 1-3 if they have them) today, and make sure to preorder the oversized hardcover collected edition that's coming out later this summer !

Hey guys, it's day 2 of the daily sketch routine. I'm on a roll ! Today's subject is Prince Robot IV, one of my favorite characters from Brian K Vaughan & Fiona Staples' amazing series, SAGA ! Once again, I'm not spending a lot of time on these or trying to create a masterpiece, just fast & loose. Back for another round tomorrow !
